Can I ask how the paint job is holding up? I am considering painting our stair rail (not the spindles) and I'm nervous that the paint might chip off if not sanded all the way down.

Hi Jessica, thanks for your question. We plucked this photo from a Pinterest board. You can find the pin here: http://pinterest.com/pin/21.... We tried to follow the trail of the pin, which led to a blog post and then to Sarah Richardson Designs (from Sarah's House on HGTV). So, it looks like it was originally her design. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the source of the tile. Perhaps you might be able to contact them for the source?

Great post! I would always get out all of my frames and get overwhelmed and frustrated. I hadn't thought of making templates to hang first! Now I can't wait to get my gallery out of the box and onto the wall. :)

What a great afternoon in that beautiful house. I love the investigative work we did. What you failed to mention was how your keen knowledge of sound identified chimneys in the walls and hollow doors. It was also great fun paying attention to floor patterns which are being played upon in the downstairs poolroom and discovering from the floor pattern upstairs that the closets are not original to the home upstairs. We counted 5 full bathrooms in the house and two half baths. (I think Greg, Marsha, Peter, Jan, Bobby and Cindy would be envious) but they seemed well placed and the rooms were all very cozy.

The exception to the cozy rooms was one oddly finished smaller bathroom which reminded us of a hotel bathroom from a horror movie. We concluded this as well as the location of the hidden body in the wine cellar. A smiley face in the stump in the garden verified our conclusion that the body made its final resting stop out there.

It was great to see the preview and boards. Can't wait to see how they will remove the 80s decor as well.. In the words of my great friend, Mr. Nesbitt, "The 80s were great for music, OK for fashion and terrible for interior design." (I still think that would make a great tshirt or coffee mug slogan!)
